Enhancing local community engagement in great apes conservation during Covid-19 period

This project is funded by the People and Conservation Learning Group (PCLG) Small Grant scheme. The PCLG Small Grant scheme is coordinated by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) with funding from the Arcus Foundation. The aim of this project is to enhance local community engagement in the conservation of great apes in Tofala Hill Wildlife Sanctuary.

The project has as objectives; i) to support local population with alternative livelihood sources, ii) to communicate findings on the effect of human activities on great apes habitat, iii) to put in place a learning group for the conservation of great apes.

Project duration: 2.5 months.
